The objective of this project was to define a specific target audience and create a design for a recipe book that would appeal to this audience. The deliverables included a book cover and three recipe spreads. The final solution was an elegant, stylish cocktail recipe book, geared toward those who enjoy hosting gatherings and mixing drinks, sparing no expense.

Objectives
The objective of this project is to create a cover and three spreads for a recipe book. The following elements are included in the spreads: recipe title, recipe information, ingredients, directions, pairings, and a sidebar. A pairing was included in this book to add some more tips to smaller, more simple recipes.
Audience
The expected audience of this book is adults with a full bar, who aren’t concerned with expenses associated with making drinks or hosting gatherings. The book is sophisticated, and perfect for people who love fancy drinks and want to make them at home. It's for those who enjoy exploring unique flavors and want to create top-notch cocktails with style.
Type
The typefaces used are Bodoni small caps and Gill Sans. Bodoni is considered a sophisticated font due to its elegance and high contrast between thick and thin strokes. It's often associated with luxury, refinement, and classical design. Gill Sans is a refined and versatile font, known for its clarity and modernity. This typeface was chosen because of its readability at smaller sizes.
Design Decisions
This book is designed to have a sophisticated visual presence, using modern and minimal colour schemes and fonts, while still being readable and usable. Using a black background adds to this modern, minimal feeling, while still contributing to this design’s use of a cookbook – most liquid spilled will show less on black than most other colours. Using delicate line to frame images and divide the title section reinforces the elegant feeling the book is meant to have. The design details were kept simple and elegant to contribute to readability and keep whitespace on the pages clear, so that nothing distracting happens within the recipes.
